What are Early Days Workshops?
Early Days Workshops support carers of children, aged six years and less, who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or are undergoing asessment, by giving them information and strategies to support their child's development every day.
Gateways staff facilitate Early Days Workshops on behalf of the Parenting Research Centre.
These workshops bring together small groups of parents for information and discussion sessions that aim to give carers practical ideas and strategies that they can apply to their own particular situation.
Information presented includes strategies on how to deal with issues such as sleeping, behaviour, play, language and more.
What happens in an Early Days Workshop?
Early Days Workshops provide carers with high quality learning experiences in small groups. This involves pre-workshop reading, information and discussions designed to help carers apply strategies learning during workshops to their own situation.
Who is eligible?
Workshops are open to mothers and fathers, or others who have a primary caring role of a child aged six years or less with a diagnosed or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder. This includes Autism, Asperger Syndrome and Pervasive Development Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS).
How much does it cost?
Early Days is fully funded by the Australian Federal Government. All workshops are free of charge to parents and family carers.
