  • Sensory awareness
  • Social skills; and,
  • Behaviour.

Who are part of the Gateways Early Childhood Intervention Team?

Gateways has a multi-disciplinary Early Childhood Intervention Team including skilled speech pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists and early intervention teachers.

The Gateways Early Childhood Intervention Team works closely with young children and their families to ensure they receive the support and services they need to maximise their:

  • Quality and enjoyment of life.
  • Potential; and,
  • Positive relationships in their community.

How do I know which services are best for my child?

Families can choose the combination of Early Childhood Intervention Services that best suits their situation.  Services can be provided at:

  • The family home.
  • The child's kindergarten
  • A childcare centre
  • Family Day Care
  • The Gateways Children’s Centre at Grovedale; or,
  • Other locations requested by the family.

What is the Gateways’ Service Philosophy?

At Gateways we recognise that each child and family is unique and we aim to develop programs that best suit the needs of each individual family. Working together makes best use of the skills and knowledge of the family and professionals.

An assessment of needs is conducted in cooperation with each family and a service plan is developed that responds the family's priorities.

Research and experience has shown that functional life skills and play activities practised in a range of real life situations allow the child to learn by doing. We are also mindful of the fact that families need to look after, and balance, the needs of the whole family.
