Geelong Youth Group
The Geelong Youth Group supports young people with disabilities/additional needs by providing leisure and social activities in the community.

What is the Geelong Youth Group?

The Geelong Youth Group supports social opportunities and friendships for young people with disabilities/additional needs by providing a range of leisure activities within the general community.

The Geelong Youth Group is staffed by a recreation coordinator, who has experience in supporting people with disabilities in a range of leisure activities. An assistant also supports the group so that the needs of each individual member are met. Gateways volunteers also provide fantastic support to this group.

The Geelong Youth Group is jointly funded by the State and Federal governments through the Home and Community Care (HACC) program and operates according to the HACC service quality standards framework.

Who is eligible for the Geelong Youth Group?

To be eligible for the Geelong Youth Group the participant must:

  • Be aged between 11 and 18 years.
  • Be registered as having a disability.
  • Live with their unpaid primary carer in the City of Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliffe or the Surf Coast Shire.
  • Have a primary carer who receives the Carers Allowance.

Where is it held?

The Geelong Youth Group meets at the REAP building in Church St, Manifold Heights.

How often does the group meet?

The Geelong Youth Group is held from 10am to 3.30pm on four Saturdays during each school term.

What is the Cost?

An activity fee of $12.00 per session is charged for the Geelong Youth Group.
