Gateways launches a new employment skills program for adults with a disability

A new employment program for adults with a disability is to be piloted by Gateways Support Services.
Job Quest: Employment Programs are being developed to empower adults with a disability to build their skills and confidence in a safe and supportive team environment. Based out of Gateways Community PLACE, North Geelong, the programs work to identify each individual’s skills and interests, then build their capacity in those areas.
The self-paced program will run during school terms and comprise a mixture of skill development and volunteering days, with a healthy dose of fun.
The skill development sessions will include training in teamwork, money management, workplace norms, and time management. Weekly volunteering sessions will take place with a number of different industries such as gardening, food services and office work.
The Job Quest team works with each participant to develop an Individualised Employment Pathway, which identifies goals and the stepping stones to achieving them.
This support may include engaging an employment provider, an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) or securing an ongoing employment opportunity with a Gateways partner.
Job Quest will be piloted from February 22 and again from 14 April for Term 2.
