New support program for male carers launches in 2022

At Gateways Support Services, we are constantly evaluating how we can better support our community members. With the knowledge that there is a lack of support specifically for male carers of children with disability within our region, we applied for some government funding to help us create targeted support.
We are proud to announce that our funding application was successful, and we will soon be providing male carer supports within the Barwon, South West and western Melbourne regions.
These supports will include support groups, recreational activities, keynote speaker nights and carer and child recreational activities. We want to give back to the carers in our community and create safe, relaxed spaces for male carers to come together.
If you know a dad, uncle, grandparent or special male in your child’s life that could benefit from some fun activities and meeting other like-minded carers, please share this exciting news with them.
If you’re a male carer yourself and would like to express interest in hearing more about these supports, volunteer to run some of these supports, or co-design how these supports look, please email parentsupport@gateways.com.au or call 0352212984 and ask to speak to Tess from our Strengthening Parent Support Program. We look forward to hearing from you!
