‘Getaway House’ is a 5 bedroom facility based respite house located in Warrnambool.
What does ‘Getaway House’ offer?
‘Getaway House’ offers overnight, weekend and school holiday respite for families by providing a safe and homelike environment for children with disabilities between the ages of 6 and 18 years in a fully supervised environment.
What is the aim of the ‘Getaway House’ service?
The aim of Getaway House is to give families a much needed break while children enjoy fun activities with their friends in a safe environment.
Children must be:
- Eligible for support under the Disability Act 2006
- Between the ages of 6 and 18 years
- Living in the municipalities of Warrnambool City, Moyne, Corangamite or Glenelg Shires (In emergency circumstances we can support children living outside these areas)
How much respite can families have and how much does it cost?
When families request access to ‘Getaway House’ we help them complete a Respite Needs Index which helps us work out how much respite they need. Because we have many families accessing the House we try and be fair when we work out how often they can access the House.
The cost of respite is $24.00 per night, if families have difficulty with this cost we can help them look at ways of getting assistance to cover costs.
For children coming to the house for short periods of time during the day the cost is $5.75 per hour
