The Continence Support Service (CSS) was developed by Disability Services, Department of Human Services (DHS) in September 2000 to expand continence service provision to children with a Disability. This program is targeted to children and young people with a Disability aged 5 — 15 years who are eligible for services under the Disability Act 2006. This scheme is available to eligible families living in South West Victoria.
The types of continence products provided is directly related to their continence issues (e.g disposable nappies, equipment items etc), as detailed and assessed by the continence nurse.
South West HealthCare and Western District Health Service Continence Nurses are responsible for conducting the continence assessments and referring children to the program.
The role of Gateways is only to administer the funding of continence aids for each individual client, once referred by the Continence Nurse.
