Gateways understand that receiving individual support and getting a break for carers is important
Gateways has experienced staff who can support adults who are frail aged or have dementia at home or on a community activity.
What individual support is available to people who are frail aged?
This service aims to support the participant in their home or community and assists the primary carers by providing some respite so they can continue to care for someone who is frail aged.
In consultation with each family, Gateways develops a personalised individual support plan that ensures that the services the participant receives addresses their needs.
Who is eligible for this type of respite?
Families caring for a person aged 65-years or more, who is frail aged, are eligible for referral to this program. Priority is given to carers who have limited access to other support options.
How much individual support may we be entitled to and how much will it cost?
An allocation of hours will be provided to eligible families each year. Generally, up to five hours a week is allocated. Families have the flexibility to choose when these hours are used during the week.
A standard fee of $3.80 per hour is charged for this type of respite.
