Kinder Playmates – social and emotional development support
Gateways Support Services Kinder Playmates is a small group therapy program for children attending a 4 year old Kindergarten program in Geelong.
The program supports children to interact with peers, regulate emotions, understand social cues and learn in a group setting.
Kinder Playmates is designed and run by speech pathologists and occupational therapists, with each session developing children’s social and emotional skills through games, stories, music, drama and play. It also gives parents and carers ideas to work on at home with your child and a chance to meet other families.
The program is suitable for children who:
- have difficulty interacting with peers,
- have difficulty understanding and managing their emotions,
- currently attend mainstream kindergarten,
- can concentrate in a group setting,
- can express their needs, thoughts and ideas.
Where is Kinder Playmates group program held?
Kinder Playmates is held at the Greenville Children’s Centre, Greenville Drive in Grovedale – Geelong. Each term there are 10 sessions, with 2 parent sessions and 8 children’s sessions. A goals and outcomes report is provided for each session. Participants in the Kinder Playmates program require an NDIS plan. NDIS funding for this group is in the Capacity Building – improved daily living bundle.
