Winning Days is a social group for teenagers aged between 13 and 18 years, who have a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome.
Winning Days gives teenagers with Asperger Syndrome, living in the Geelong region, the opportunity to form friendships while experiencing new activities.
The Gateways Winning Days group is staffed by a recreation leader, who has experience in supporting teenagers with Aspergers in both the secondary school setting and in leisure activities. Additional staff and volunteer support is provided to ensure that the needs of group members are well met.
Who is eligible for Winning Days?
Teenagers with a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome aged between 13 to 18 years are eligible, if they attend mainstream school. The participant must also have a current NDIA plan with the following support items:
- Participate Community – group based community, social & recreational activities – Saturdays
- Participate Community – group based community, social & recreational activities – weekday evenings OR
- Have a Community Access Bundle
Where is Winning Days held?
Winning Days uses the Gateways office, 10-12 Albert Street, Geelong West, as their base to plan their Friday night or Saturday activity.
How often is it held?
Winning Days is held on Friday nights or Saturdays during school terms. You can contact Gateways Recreation Coordinator to find out more about specific dates for each term.
What is the Cost?
You will need to pay an activity fee for each session attended. This fee will be based on whatever the particular activity is for that day. If you have the following NDIA line item in your NDIA plan Gateways will claim the activity cost through NDIA:
- 23 023 Participate Community – Community, Social & Recreational Activity Costs
If you don’t have this NDIA line item in your NDIA plan you will need to pay the activity cost prior to the day.
