Prime Movers is available in Geelong and Western Melbourne and is a small group recreational program that provides high-quality support to people who are frail aged or have dementia.
What are the aims of Prime Movers?
- Provide opportunities for people who are frail aged of have dementia to participate in a group based social activity.
- Provide meaningful leisure and social activities.
Who is eligible?
People who are frail aged or have dementia and are being cared for by a primary carer and still living at home. Priority will be given to families receiving minimal support.
How much does it cost?
Activity costs range from $20 to $30
Geelong West Cafe Care Connect
Gateways Support Services have partnered with the Geelong West Neighbourhood House to support people who are frail aged or have dementia together with their carers.
The ‘Geelong West Cafe Care Connect’ program provides opportunities for people who are frail aged or have dementia to participate in a supportive social group along with their carers. The ‘Geelong West Care Connect’ program is held each Tuesday afternoon from 1pm-3.30pm. Cost is $5 per session (carers attend free). Coffee, tea and biscuits are provided.
These programs are funded by the Department of Social Services through the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
