Teeing up for a good cause: Gateways Support Services Charity Golf Day

The countdown is on for one of Geelong’s most anticipated community events – the 22nd Annual Gateways Charity Golf Day at Clifton Springs Golf Club. For more than 20 years, this event has brought together local businesses, golf enthusiasts, and Gateway’s all-abilities community for a day of fun, connection, and giving back.

Recently, Danny Materazzo, Clifton Springs Golf Club Pro sat down with BayFM’s Mil to talk about what makes this event so special. 

What makes this golf day truly special is its inclusive spirit. It’s not just about the perfect swing or the lowest score, it’s about creating awareness of Gateway’s programs, raising much-needed funds, and celebrating the talents of all participants. Local businesses form teams, clients from Gateway’s all-abilities programs join in, and volunteers help make the day run smoothly. Everyone has a chance to be part of something bigger. 

Beyond the fun and camaraderie, the Charity Golf Day also plays a critical role in supporting Gateway’s programs. These programs provide vital opportunities and resources for people with disability, helping them to participate fully in community life. The day not only raises awareness but also generates important funds that directly support Gateway and its clients. 

For local businesses, this is more than a day on the green, it’s a chance to make a real difference. Teams can come together, have fun, and contribute to meaningful programs that impact people’s lives every day. 

This year’s event kicks off on Friday, 27th February 2026, with an 11am shotgun start. Guests can enjoy a full day of golfing, breakfast, lunch, and post-round festivities. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a complete beginner, the day promises some memorable moments. 

Even if you’re not swinging a club, there are plenty of ways to support Gateway, from volunteering to cheering on participants. Every contribution, big or small, helps build a stronger, more inclusive community.
