Working for Gateways

Gateways is a great organisation to be part of and our staff and volunteers are known for their excellence and their commitment to our Vision and Mission. At Gateways we recognise that staff and volunteers are our most valuable assets. We therefore strive to attract and retain motivated and skilled people who have:

  • Valuing attitudes to people with disabilities
  • A belief in team work and cooperation
  • A commitment to self-improvement
  • Effective communication skills

Gateways is committed to providing quality, safety and wellbeing to every person who uses our services. We have rigorous recruitment policies and procedures in place promoting the safety and protection of all vulnerable people we support. Our staff are subject to a national police check and an international police check where required, prior to their appointment. Gateways will also conduct a Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme check.  Staff must also provide a current Working with Children check.

Gateways actively encourages applications from Aboriginal peoples and people from a culturally and/or linguistically diverse background.

Work Life Balance

Gateways provides employees with regular constructive feedback, support and opportunities to debrief.  For workplace issues, staff may be referred to the Employee Assistance Program for free confidential counselling.

Recruitment

Gateways job vacancies are advertised internally to all our staff who are encouraged to apply. Many support worker vacancies are advertised to internal staff only, giving staff the opportunity to seek permanent work or move from one division to another.

Salary Packaging

As a not-for-profit organisation, Gateways has an exemption from Fringe Benefits Tax which means we can offer staff with permanent, regular hours up to $15,900 per year tax free. Your salary package is deducted from your pre-tax salary so you only pay tax on the remaining portion. This results in a reduction of the tax you pay.
