Lifetime Achievement Award for Rosemary Malone

Gateways’ former CEO, Rosemary Malone has received a Life Time Achievement Honour Roll award at the Victorian Disability Awards 2019 for her outstanding contribution through leadership, advocacy and support to the lives of people with disability.

The Lifetime achievement honour roll recognises exceptional individuals who have made a significant contribution over the past 20 years and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the rights, participation and inclusion of Victorians with a disability.

In her 34 years in the disability sector, Rosemary has advocated fiercely for the human rights of people with disabilities, some of whom are among the most vulnerable in our society. Through her passion, determination and leadership, she has ensured that those in need get a fair deal and are provided with opportunities to be part of their chosen community and have a good everyday life.

Rosemary was CEO of Gateways Support Services from 2003 until retirement in July 2019,  and was previously Gateways General Manager from 1998 to 2003. She  built a highly regarded organisation, from ‘grass roots’ in the late 1990’s, to a lead agency in Barwon, South-Western Victoria and recently Western Melbourne, supporting more than 2,000 people with disabilities and their families each year.  Throughout her leadership, Gateways has become renowned  for delivering innovative, high quality and person-centred services, achieving  outcomes for people with disability, especially people with Autism and Intellectual Disability.
