Recreation Volunteer

Getting Active

View the Gateways Safeguarding Children brochure.

As a recreation volunteer you will support children and young adults to actively participate in a range of fun, social activities as part of Gateways recreational group programs.  You will be supervised and work alongside qualified Support Workers to encourage, motivate and engage participants in holiday programs and other social groups.  Activities could include a trip to the beach, a visit to a wildlife park, going to the movies, cooking, school holiday camps or just hanging out having fun.

In Geelong, Gateways also has a number of shared accommodation houses that provide a long-term home to people with a disability.   Some volunteers make regular visits to Gateways houses, establishing friendships and expanding the participant’s social circle.

Experienced staff are available to support you as a volunteer at all times.
