Gateways Festive Fun – Christmas Activities

Xmas Banner Newsletter (3)

With the holiday season fast approaching, the Gateways therapy team have put together some fun, festive activities that are sure to be a hit!

To make your own snow globe:

Make your own little world inside a snow globe and watch as the snow falls and the magic starts.

Materials

  • Clear plastic cup
  • Coloured paper/tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • ‘Snow’ (white paper circle maybe from a hole punch)
  • Coloured pencils

Instructions

  1. With your coloured paper, trace around the bottom of your clear plastic cup creating a circle. Cut out the circle. Be careful with the scissors! Maybe ask an adult to help you.
  2. On white paper, trace out your snowman! Make sure he is shorter than your clear plastic cup.
  3. Cut out your snowman and decorate him.
  4. Paste your snowman standing up on the coloured paper circle.
  5. Tear up small pieces of white paper and roll or scrunch them into tiny balls, or use a hole punch to make small circles.
  6.  Put the ‘snow’ into your clear plastic cup.
  7. Paste around the edges of the coloured paper circle. Make sure you use enough so the clear plastic cup will stick!
  8. Turn your snowman upside down and place it onto the cup, hanging the snowman inside the cup.
  9. Leave it for a while to dry and paste tight to the cup. If needed you might want to stick the edges down with sticky tape too!

Turn your snowman the right way up and shake the cup to see the snow fall.

To make your own Christmas stocking or Santa hat:

Materials

  • Coloured paper/tissue paper

  • Scissors
  • Coloured pencils

Instructions

  1. With a pencil, trace out the shape of your stocking or Santa hat on an A4 piece of paper.
  2. Carefully cut out the shape. Be careful with the scissors! Maybe ask an adult to help you.
  3. Trace the same shape onto another A4 piece of paper – make sure it is the same shape and colour.
  4. Decorate one of the shapes with all your favourite Christmas decorations.
  5. Paste the other shape on the back, making sure to only add glue around the sides so you create a pocket.
  6. Wait for it to dry! Be patient
  7. Hang it up or wear it ready for Christmas day!

Don’t forget to hang up your stocking ready for Santa’s arrival!
