Our Harry honoured for community contribution

A big congratulations to our ambassador and Geelong Cats player Harry Taylor, who was awarded with the Tom Hafey Heart of Football Award, at the Variety AFL Great Grand Final Luncheon at Crown Palladium last week.

Each year Variety presents the award to an AFL player who has shown outstanding commitment to selflessly supporting children with additional needs in their community, in honor of the late Tom Hafey.

We’ve been fortunate to have the support of Harry as our ambassador over the past five years, dedicating his time and working with us to bring awareness and opportunities to people with disabilities.

Gateways CEO Rosemary Malone said that Harry was a very deserving recipient of the award.

“On behalf of everyone at Gateways, I would like to congratulate Harry on receiving the 2016 Tom Hafey Award. Harry has been an incredible role model for our Gateways community, as well as helping to highlight the issues faced by people with a disability. He has always gone above and beyond our expectations to create unique experiences for the people we support, and always showed genuine interest, patience, encouragement and understanding of our client’s needs.”

Harry Taylor joins a prestigious group of previous winners including Xavier Clark, Andrew McLeod, Robert Harvey, Luke Power and Eddie Betts.

In true testament to Harry’s commitment to the community, he has chosen to donate his $2000 winnings to Gateways Support Services.

“Harry is a true leader on and off the field and we thank him for helping us make a difference in the lives of children and adults with a disability and their families,” Rosemary Malone added.
