Finding a home of your own
Creating your ideal home begins with finding the right accommodation and there are a number of paths you can take to find it.
- Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA); where a builder/developer has built a purpose-built home, or an existing home has been modified to meet certain disability requirements based on the people who live their needs. This can include such factors as high physical support, robustness and improved liveability. The home owner in this model is generally the builder/developer, the participant or some other entity,
- Renting, where the participant rents a property privately,
- Purchase, where the participant buys a property,
- Entering a shared equity model with the housing provider.
Gateways offers a range of services to help navigate and smooth the path to your perfect home and our support coordination team is experienced in showing you the choices available. They can also show you how to use your NDIS funding to secure a house and engage the right level of support. Our support coordinators can help you complete a housing survey to determine the type of accommodation that best fits your expectations and needs; whether you want to live on your own or with others.
The NDIS Housing Hub is another easy way to begin your search for accommodation within your local area. Click here to visit the Housing Hub.

Partnering with SDA providers
Gateways Supported Accommodation Services partners with independent SDA providers to deliver quality housing that meets the specific needs and wishes of residents. These partnerships enable us to help families find appropriate housing options where Gateways would be the Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider.
