Gateways Congratulates 2019 Australia Day Honours Recipient
We congratulate, Gateways Support Services’ President and founder, Dr Bernie Jenner on his award of the OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia, in the General Division) for service to the community of the Barwon Region, in the Australia Day Honours.
Anyone who knows Bernie understands that he has a passion for creating a community which recognises and cares for its most vulnerable members.
He established Gateways Support Services in Geelong to provide support for children with intellectual disabilities and their families, with services in early intervention and therapy, supported accommodation, individual support and recreation programs. Gateways celebrated 21 years of service last year and has gone on to be a leading disability support provider with offices in Geelong, Warrnambool and Western Melbourne. Dr Jenner continues to guide the organisation as its President, heading up a skills based board.
Dr Jenner is a consultant Paediatrician and Family Therapist in private medical practice, former Head of Paediatrics at the University Geelong Hospital Barwon Health and St John of God Hospitals.
