🌱 A shared act of care

Hope Bereavement Care has begun a new chapter at the historic Warden’s Residence of the Old Geelong Jail, and with it, the creation of gentle outdoor spaces for reflection and healing.

Thanks to the Gateways Gardening Group, two overgrown areas have been transformed into calm, welcoming places where grieving individuals and families can pause, breathe and feel supported.

This project is a powerful example of community connection, with one not-for-profit supporting another through skill, care and collaboration.

Gateways is proud to announce Anthony as our Client Ambassador for the 22nd Annual Gateways Charity Golf Day.

Anthony’s role reflects the heart of the event - championing inclusion and raising the voices and experiences of people with disability. Through his involvement, he’ll help highlight the importance of accessible opportunities, meaningful participation and strong community connection.

Adding to the excitement, @krockgeelong breakfast presenters Tom and Loggy joined Gateways at @cliftonspringsgolfclub for a playful putting challenge - using cricket bats, tennis rackets, hockey sticks and other unconventional sporting gear instead of golf clubs.

There were plenty of laughs, but the message was clear: when tools and environments aren’t designed for you, participation becomes challenging. Just as putting with the wrong equipment is tricky, people with disability often face barriers in everyday life that many people never notice.
