Making Edmill Court a true home for its residents

We are thrilled to announce the completion of the landscaping work at our Accommodation Service in Edmill Court, Belmont. We purchased Edmill Court in 2019 and initially updated its interiors to better serve our six young residents. The final phase of the renovation, the exterior landscaping, has now been completed.

Thanks to the hard work of our Auxiliary and support from our amazing community, we have successfully completed this work. We are grateful for the ongoing support from our community, which made this project possible.

Edmill now has a fully landscaped garden complete with a new accessible swing, permanent seating with wheelchair accessibility, a wider safer path, new garden beds including raised planter boxes for kitchen gardens, lots of grass areas, and some boundary trees which in time will provide the residents more privacy from their neighbours.

Gateways CEO, Rohan Braddy, says ‘I am so delighted with the completion of the Edmill Court landscaping project. This represents a terrific outcome for the individual residents of Edmill who have a beautiful and functional new space to enjoy for many years to come, and it gives us a wonderful, warm feeling that we are delivering for the people we support and meeting their needs.’

When asked what community fundraising efforts means to Gateways, he said ‘Put simply, there is never enough! The people that Gateways supports are often among the most marginalised and disadvantaged in society. Community fundraising efforts including from our amazing Auxiliary Committee and through donations from our corporate partners and foundations enables us to provide services, supports and outcomes which otherwise wouldn’t be possible, and is changing lives.’

We are so pleased that we have now completed this project and made Edmill Court a true home for its residents.
