‘Getaway House’ is a 5 bedroom facility based respite house for children and young people with a disability, located in Warrnambool.

What does ‘Getaway House’ offer?
The Getaway House offers overnight, weekend and school holiday respite for children (6-18 years) with disabilities. At Getaway House children and young people with disability can come and work on developing social skills, independent living skills and have fun with their friends in a caring environment.
The Getaway House is able to support children and young people to get to and from school within the Warrnambool area and by individual agreement, to other areas while they are accessing Getaway House.
Getaway House also offers individual support to young people who want access 2-6 hours a day to work on their social and independent living skills.
What is the aim of the ‘Getaway House’ service?
The aim is for children and young people to build capacity in their social skills, develop and maintain friendships as well as build independent living skills.
Participants must have a current NDIS plan.
How much respite can families have and how much does it cost?
The amount or time a child or young person can stay at Getaway House is dependent on the NDIS funding they have in their plan. Stays can be from 1 night to several weeks and stays can be on a regular basis or a one off if required.
Cost will be based on the participant’s level of support in line with the NDIS price for short-term accommodation.
There are no fees or charges for the participant to stay at Getaway House.
